About
Uuskasutuskeskus is a non-profit organization in Estonia that promotes sustainable consumption by collecting and redistributing second-hand items. Their mission is to extend the life of products and reduce waste by making reuse easy and accessible for everyone.
Challenge
Previously, donations were collected at open drop-off points where items were often stacked on top of each other. Fragile items frequently got damaged or broken, and there was no control over how things were placed or handled. This led to a decrease in the quality of donations and increased sorting efforts.
Solution
Autlio installed five smart lockers for Uuskasutuskeskus to enable safe, contactless donation drop-offs. Donors can open an individual locker door using their phone and place items securely inside. The system prevents items from being mixed or damaged and allows donations to be made 24/7.
